About preschool classesAll of our pre-school classes take place in our recreational gym. This space is fully fenced and features "just for kids" equipment that is tailored to our smallest athletes. It is completely separate from our competitive facilities to ensure everyone's safety. Our recreational area is fully viewable from our bleachers. Each pre-school athlete will receive a report card at the end of a session so parents are able to see the progression. It will include notes from the coach and a recommendation for placement in the next session.

Class Details
Weevils (walking to 2 year)
The Weevils class is a parent and tot class that focuses on introducing kids to gymnastics and getting them moving and learning. Kids will learn the tuck, pike & straddle positions on floor and bars, and will begin balancing on their own on the floor beam. Weevils will also be able to roll down inclines, and perform different movements like bear crawling, walking, marching, and walking on tippy-toes.

Gym'ny Crickets (2-3 years)
Gym'ny Crickets is a transition class and perfect for kids not quite ready to venture out there alone! This class gives parents the option to come and go from the gym floor as required, and helps to introduce children to independence at their own pace. By the end of the session kids will be able to balance on a medium beam unassisted, complete a simple skills circuit, hang on a bar for more than 5 seconds, cartwheel over a box, perform an assisted chin-up on the bars, and jump on a beat board. Crickets will also be introduced to more challenging floor skills like galloping, catching a rolling hula hoop, performing a straddle, and rolling up an incline.

Tumble Weeds (3 years)
Congratulations -- Tumble Weeds is the first independent class! Parents get to watch from the bleachers as kids explore the gym and all that it has to offer, while learning new skills and having fun. Kids begin to learn more discipline at this level, as they start to listen more intently and wait their turn at the various stations. Tumble Weeds will be able to touch their toes by themselves and perform a somersault. Kids will also begin to do different walks on the beams and safely jump off of boxes and other objects.

Tumble Bugs (Ages 3-4 years) Level 1 - 2
Emerging athletes work towards basic skills and progressions; the more challenges, the higher the level. Tumble Bugs begin to be able to hold onto the bar for longer time periods, and perform more and more skills on command and without guidance.

Tiny Tumblers (4-5 years) Levels 1-2
Tiny Tumblers is a transition class between Tumble Bugs and the CanGym Program. Children will work on strength and balance in order to prepare them for more challenging skills. This class is designed for those who need a class more challenging than Tumble Bugs but are too young for CanGym.
