Specialty Classes

QCGC offers a number of specialized classes such as Strength & Flexibility, Adult Gymnastics, ​Gym Core Sport, Adaptive and Tumbling Classes.

Class Details

All Sport - Strength & Flexibility

This class is for athletes who would like to improve their overall strength & flexibility performance in their sport.  Ideal for hockey players, dancers, cheerleaders, gymnasts, etc.  In this class, athletes will use a variety of gymnastics equipment.  Pre-requisite for this class will be prior experience in gymnastics or another sport.   A personal Yoga mat is required.  Ages 8+

All Sport – Gymnastics Core Program

The Gymnastics Core Program will work all of the gymnastics skills outlined in our Can Gym program but it will not be level based.  Each athlete will work through gymnastics basics at their own pace and will receive progress reports at the end of each session.
This class is directed to athletes that already participate in a sport and want to cross train and use gymnastics core skills to improve their performance.
All of the gymnastics apparatuses will be used in various forms in this class. You will also improve your cardio, technique and overall body strength.
No gymnastics experience is necessary.  Ages 9 yrs and up.

Trampoline

This class begins with trampoline basics and safety.  They will use both the trampoline and fast track to progress and develop to their individual potential.  Ages 7+

Adult Gymnastics

This class is designed for athletes 16 and older who would like to try gymnastics and work on improving their general fitness.  No experience is necessary as each athlete will train to their own potential.  Emphasis will be placed on strength and flexibility followed by gymnastics progression.  All events will be used.

Tumbling  

QCG’s tumbling program is broken into 5 basic levels, Intro-Beginner, Beginner, Intermediate, Intro Advanced & Advanced. Click the titles below to view class information.
INTRO-Beginner
Intro Beginner Tumbling is designed for those athletes who have no gymnastics experience.  They will learn some basic body positioning, including rolls, baby cartwheels, handstands and conditioning which will prepare them for the Beginner Tumbling class.  Ages 6+
BEGINNER
Beginner Tumbling will advance their skills to include rolls into ½ & full turns, cartwheels, dive rolls, roundoffs & assisted walkovers. The conditioning advances here to prepare the athlete to aid in skill execution.    Ages 6+
Pre-requisite for this class will be Intro Beginning Tumbling, completion of the CanGym Red level, ​or outside dance or cheer experience.
INTERMEDIATE
Intermediate Tumbling, using the basic fundamentals learned in the beginner’s level, the athlete will work towards back & front handsprings, front & back tucks, round-off’s, ariel's and advanced body positioning along with conditioning. Ages 7+
Pre-requisite for this class will be Beginning Tumbling, completion of the CanGym Bronze level or outside dance or cheer experience.
INTRO ADVANCED
​Intro Advanced Tumbling is the next step where the athlete learns to execute power hurdles to back handsprings, front/back handsprings without a spot.  Conditioning increases at this level to prepare the athlete for these and future skills.  Ages 7+
Pre-requisite for this class will be Intermediate Tumbling ​or outside dance or cheer experience.
ADVANCED
​Advanced Tumbling puts everything together that the athlete has been learning in the previous levels.  Multiple handsprings, step outs to learning round-off whips (spotted), working towards layouts to standing back/front tucks.  Typically, the class is used to enhance skills to utilize in other areas or sports.
Pre-requisite for this class will be Intro Advanced Tumbling or outside club dance or cheer experience
ELITE TUMBLING
​Elite Tumbling is designed for high-level cheer teams.   Round-off to multiple back handsprings, 2 whips to back handspring, front tuck to step out to round-off, handspring to 1/1 on floor.  Content will be designed to meet team needs.

Adaptive Gymnastics

Adaptive Gymnastics allows athletes who may need accommodation or modification due to special needs to the CanGym program to join a smaller ratio class and get the extra assistance in order to have fun and be successful at gymnastics!
